Four interdependent axis

Rationalise your processes
Adressing this axis, you will :
de-duplicate processes or eliminate redundancies
simplify processes
get rid of useless processes and "orphan processes"
automate processes,
...
Improve service levels / service delivery
This one is about reducing the duration for outages, impacts of incidents or improve your Service Levels.
Rationalise / modernise tools
Rationalising tools means get rid of unused equipments, tools, IT infrastructures,..
Modernising tools means... well.. it sounds clear : use most recent equipments, technologies, automate when possible etc...
Improve your sourcing
This one is probably the most critical because you will heave to deal with :
External sourcing : supplier consolidation, contract renegotiation, here are the main topics you will have to deal with;
Internal sourcing : here we are talking about developing your team skills, reducing the number of FTEs, nearshoring or offshoring activities..
Why dealing with these four axis in a coordinated and consistent way is crucial ?
Of course, you may want to adress these topics in a row. But honestly, it doesn't sound like being the most adapted approach.
As i mentionned before, these axis are in fact... interdependent : which means if your adress only one.. you may have trouble with the remaining ones.
Let me give you some examples :
If you want to improve your Service Levels, you may need
additional FTEs
new infrastuctures
Which means additional costs
If you want to rationalise to automate processes, you may need..
More recent tools
Less people once the processes are automated..
If you want to size your teams down your may have
Lower performances
Lower customer satsfaction
when adressing these four axis, you can have the one and the other if and only if, you act in a coordinated and consistent way.
In another post i will tell you more about how to adress each of this axis. So stay tuned
